Jeremy Sprinkle is excited for his chance vs. Patriots

Jeremy Sprinkle is making his first career start this weekend when the Washington Redskins take on the New England Patriots.

With Jordan Reed and Vernon Davis down, it’s Sprinkle’s big chance to shine.

“It’s definitely exciting,” Sprinkle said, according to Kyle Stackpole of Redskins.com. “You work so hard to get here, and obviously you want to start, so even though it is through the injuries, you always want to get your opportunities to go out there and shine.”

Sprinkle, a fifth-round pick in 2017, has always seemed like a guy in line for a bigger role, especially once he refined his game in all areas.

Now? He’s looking like a quality all-around tight end who will get a chance to showcase his talents in an era of uncertainty for the Redskins. With Davis aging and Reed consistently hurt, Sprinkle has a chance to show he’s a long-term solution this season and into the future.

To do so, Sprinkle will have to connect well with newly-named starter Colt McCoy. If the Redskins fall behind they could be reliant on the pass often, so the Arankans product should see plenty of chances.
