Jeremy Renner will take at least ‘two years’ to recover from horrific injuries

Jeremy Renner’s recovery could take years following his snow plough accident.

A friend of the Hollywood star revealed that it will be at least “two years” before he is back on form after his 14,330 lb snow plough ran over him in Nevada.

“It’s much worse than anyone knows,” the friend reportedly explained to Radar Online, adding that the actor is aware “he almost died out there”.

“Doctors tend to space out operations to allow time for the body’s natural healing process to kick in, and that’s the case here.

“The right side of Jeremy’s chest was crushed, and his upper torso had collapsed. He also had a bad head wound that was bleeding and a leg injury.”

The pal also said that Renner had trouble breathing and that doctors had to reconstruct his chest in surgery and added: "So far, he’s had two surgeries and he will likely require more in the weeks ahead on his leg.”

Another friend said that the actor may even lose a leg after it was crushed under the Snowcat.

“There are serious doubts he will ever be able to walk right again — or at all,” said a source close to the situation. “His loved ones worry the damage was significant enough to prevent him from moving the way he used to — that is, if he doesn’t lose the leg altogether.”

The actor, most known for his role as Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was rushed to hospital following severe injuries from being run over by his snow plough on January 1.

The initial statement from his publicist revealed he suffered blunt-chest trauma and orthopaedic injuries. Since the,n it’s been reported that he’s had several surgeries.

Since his accident, the actor has been sharing updates on his condition from his hospital bed, including on his 52nd birthday earlier this month.

Sharing a snap of himself with an oxygen mask on, and monitors attached to his hand and arm while surrounded by medical staff, he wrote: “Thank you Renowned Medical ICU team for beginning this journey.”

He’s also shared a video of his sister massaging his head and making him laugh, captioning the clip, “spa moment to lift my spirits”.

He has been met with an outpouring of support from fans and Marvel co-stars, including Chris Hemsworth, Taika Waititi, and Chris Pratt.

His representatives have been contacted for comment.
