Jeremy Renner jogs for first time since snowplough accident and says 'pain is progress'

Jeremy Renner has taken his recuperation to the next level as he jogs for the first time since his terrifying snowplough accident.

Jeremy was run over by his 14,330lb Snowcat on New Year's Day, suffering blunt chest trauma and orthopaedic injuries.

He was airlifted to hospital following the incident with more than 30 broken bones and sources close to the star say he "almost died".

But now the 52-year-old actor is back on his feet and working hard at making a full recovery.

"First attempt at a light jog with weight assisted lift for the broken tibia," he said sharing a video with fans on Instagram.

"Pain is progress for me," he added.

Talking in the clip, he says: "It's a new movement that I'm not used to... Walking and jogging are very different muscle groups."

"The leg's still broken, thank goodness for the titanium," he says from the special treadmill, which allows him to de-load up to 80% of his weight.

Jeremy has been using a walker to get back on his feet and a cane for support before gradually getting back to walking unaided.

He recently appeared on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show where he admitted he remembers "all of it" up until he was transported to a nearby hospital via helicopter in the treacherous conditions.

He revealed that it was fortunate that the machine missed the critical parts of his anatomy, saying: "It just missed every vertebrae, did not hit any organs, membrane did not swell.

"My eye did pop out — that's weird — but I got pretty lucky that none of the organs got messed up."

When asked what the best thing to come from the incident was, Jeremy confessed that he'd been enjoying the time off work and his new lifestyle changes, including losing 20 pounds.

"I was making so many plans, I was going to buy a boat," he told Jimmy. "I was going to live in Mexico ... because my year was pretty jammed up until I got crushed, right?"

"Then also it was like a New Year's resolution, I did drop like 20 pounds. I quit smoking, it's easy! Easiest way to quit smoking, I'm telling you!"
