Marvel star Jeremy Renner has denied the “totally inaccurate” allegations levelled against him by filmmaker Yi Zhou, after she accused him of sending sexually explicit photos of himself and exhibiting behaviour that once drove her to lock herself in a room.
Zhou made the allegations in a series of Instagram Posts shared earlier this week, each captioned with the hashtag #cancelJeremyRenner.
Throughout the posts, Zhou claimed she began dating Renner — known for his role as Hawkeye in the MCU — back in June after he contacted her with “a string of unwanted/unsolicited pornographic images of himself via DM and Whatsapp”.

From there, Zhou claimed Renner “seduced” her into a relationship, which at one point allegedly included him making “threats to call immigration/ICE” when she confronted him about his behaviour.
“This experience really shows the dark side of Hollywood and the smear campaign to deter women and Asian female filmmakers and women in general,” Zhou wrote.
Zhou went on to cite one alleged incident on August 20 in which Renner allegedly finished a whole bottle of wine and became “violent”, prompting her to lock herself in a room out of fear.
The filmmaker — who said she worked with Renner on the documentary Chronicles of Disney — also claimed she was at the receiving end of “smear fan campaigns”.

Renner denied the accusations through a representative, telling Variety, “the allegations being made are totally inaccurate and untrue”. The actor’s attorney, Marty Singer, doubled down on the denial in a statement provided to People.
“[The allegations are] false, outrageous and highly defamatory,” Singer said, while claiming Zhou is retaliating against Renner after he “rejected her romantic advances”.
“The true facts are that Ms. Zhou has relentlessly and aggressively harassed and pursued my client for months with no reciprocation on my client’s part,” Singer said.
In 2019, Renner’s ex-wife Sonni Pacheco claimed the actor had threatened to kill her during their marriage — accusations which his representative denied.
