Jeremy Langford cut by Atlanta Falcons

Jeremy Langford was one of the best running backs in Michigan State history, and he had some early success in his rookie season with the Chicago Bears, but he has had trouble sticking in the NFL. Langford was recently released last week by the Atlanta Falcons in a move that allowed them to sign former Oregon running back Tony Brooks-James.

Langford, inarguably, had a HUGE career for the Spartans, recording 1,422 yards in 2013 and 1,522 yards in 2014. He even managed to tie Javon Ringer’s record of 22 touchdowns in 2014. However, his career in the NFL has been fraught at best.

Drafted in the Fourth Round of the NFL Draft in 2015, Langford was used sparingly, but effectively in his first season, rushing for over 500 yards on 3.6 yards-per-carry. However, he was cut by the Bears the next season and has bounced around the league ever since, unable to find a role where he can contribute. The Falcons cut him with an injury designation last week, so it’s possible he has been dealing with nagging injuries for a while, derailing his once-promising career.
