'Jeremy Kyle thinks he's God' - mum says the show ruined her life

A mum has spoken on how the Jeremy Kyle Show has ruined her life following a tragic death on the controversial show.

Crissy Kenny, 59, said her husband disappeared after he appeared on the show despite her warning: 'He'll rip you to pieces', reports Birmingham Live.

Filming and broadcasting of the ITV series has been suspended following the death of a guest.

The Tamworth mother said her heart went out to the mourning family following her experience three years ago.

Crissy said her husband of four years, Fergus, vanished after he filmed an episode about estranged parents and children in February 2016.

Crissy, who uses a wheelchair after battling a string of health problems, said she urged him not to appear on the show - and refused to go with him to the studios.

She said: "I'm very sad that someone's died. Jeremy Kyle thinks he's God but he ruins lives and thinks he does a good job.

"We had a fantastic marriage (before the show) - nothing was wrong.

"My husband was seeing his kids and mine had left home. He was my full-time carer.

"I asked him not to bother when he got the letter from the show. I refused to go with him."

'I’ll never air my dirty linen in public'

Crissy, a Birmingham-born former soldier who served in Bosnia, Kosovo and Germany, previously said how Fergus walked out on her the day after the exchange with his daughter, Hayley, then 19.

She said in 2016: “I warned him: ‘Go on there and you know what will happen – that man will rip you to pieces and they will think you’re a bad dad'.

“What I don’t understand was we used to watch it together and he’d say: ‘You’ll never catch me on there, I’ll never air my dirty linen in public’.”

Kyle, a former Birmingham DJ who rose to fame with BRMB, dubbed him a disgrace, stupid and waste of space, and demanded: “Why didn’t you see your kid? Why didn’t you cry yourself to sleep every night?

“Look at your daughter, you have failed her.”

Mental meltdown

Crissy said she feared the humiliation sparked some kind of mental meltdown.

Fergus later said the experience of going on the show was “the final nail in the coffin” of his marriage, but declined to elaborate.

“I am not a bad father,” he said, “but I was made out to be a monster.”

The Jeremy Kyle Show  said in 2016: "We work closely with all of our guests to ensure their experience on the programme is positive.

"All guests are fully informed of the content of the show and aware of Jeremy’s presenting style."

The show was replaced by an episode of Dickinson's Real Deals on Monday, May 13.
