Jeremy Kyle swerves Royal Ascot for first time in 17 years after his show was axed

Jeremy Kyle appears to have completely swerved Ascot for the first time in 17 years following the cancellation of his daytime talk show .

The presenter has been a regular at the annual horse racing event at Ascot Racecourse, in Berkshire, for almost two decades.

And as the proceedings kicked off on Monday, Jeremy was pictured hanging out in Berkshire, but definitely not making his way to Ascot.

The star, 53, was seen out running some errands in a pair of knee-length jean shorts, trainers, a white T-shirt and baseball cap.

He was seen clutching a carrier bag in one hand as he held up his phone and looked off into the distance.

The outfit is a far cry from the kind celebs wear when they attend Ascot, with the men donning top hats and tails or fancy suits, while the women wear stunning frocks and fascinators.

Jeremy has been pictured at the event a number of times over the years, but hasn't made an appearance at the 2019 event so far.

Just a few weeks ago, ITV chose to pull his show off the air permanently following the tragic suicide of one of his guests.

Just yesterday, Jeremy snubbed MPs as he refused to give evidence about his show's axing.

He had been asked to appear before a Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee inquiry on reality TV - after guest Steve Dymond's tragic death.

But Damian Collins, chairman of the committee, revealed he "declined" an invitation to appear next Tuesday.

Mr Collins told MPs: "We believe that Jeremy Kyle himself should be an important witness to [our inquiry] as the show is based around him as the lead presenter of it.

"We have sent an invitation to Mr Kyle through his representatives.

"And we have received word back from them that he has declined to appear in front of the committee on Tuesday next week."

The Jeremy Kyle Show was suspended indefinitely last month and axed two days later following the death of guest Steve Dymond.

Steve had appeared on the ITV show 10 days before taking his own life, having failed a lie detector test offered by Kyle's producers.

Steve had been desperate to prove he hadn't cheated on fiancée Jane Callaghan, but the results of the highly disputed lie detector claimed he had been unfaithful.
