Jeremy Kyle 'may have caused or contributed' to show guest's death

Jeremy Kyle 'may have caused or contributed' to the death of a man who died from a morphine overdose after taking a lie detector test on the presenter's now axed ITV show, a coroner has stated.

Steve Dymond, 63, was found dead at his home on May 9, 2019, days after he took a lie detector test on the Jeremy Kyle Show.

Hampshire coroner Jason Pegg has today made Mr Kyle an "interested in person" for the inquest set to be held, stating that the presenter "may have caused or contributed” to his death, during a pre-inquest review in Winchester, PA reports.

Mr Dymond appeared on a cancelled episode of the Jeremy Kyle show, in which he took the lie detector test in response to allegations he had been cheating on his then fiancee.

Empty morphine packets were found next to former construction worker Mr Dymond's body in his Portsmouth home, a previous inquest hearing heard.

Mr Pegg told a previous hearing that Mr Dymond's death was caused by a morphine overdose and a heart problem.

Detective Sergeant Marcus Mills, of Hampshire Police, told an earlier hearing that the death was a suspected suicide.

The Jeremy Kyle show was cancelled after 17 series on ITV following Mr Dymond's death.
