Jeremy Kyle audience member says Steve Dymond 'collapsed to the ground' after hearing he failed lie detector result

A woman who was in the audience for the filming of Jeremy Kyle guest Steve Dymond’s unaired episode said he “collapsed to the ground” after hearing his lie detector result.

Mr Dymond reportedly took a lie detector in an attempt to convince his fiancée Jane Callaghan he had not cheated on her but they split after he failed the test.

Days later the 63-year-old was found dead and the show was pulled off air indefinitely by ITV, with bosses saying they would not screen the episode.

Babette Lucas-Marriott said “everybody felt uncomfortable” after the result, which left Mr Dymond “begging for forgiveness.”

She told the BBC that “99 per cent” of the audience thought he would pass the test.

The 20-year-old added: “They were just completely and utterly devastated.

“It was clear that he’d just lost his entire life with his fiancé there.”

ITV earlier said staff at the broadcaster and the show's production team were "shocked and saddened" at Mr Dymond's death.

His son Carl Woolley told the Daily Mail that the show's presenter had "really laid into him" and that his father had been left distraught by the experience.
