Jeremy Corbyn is no chicken - in fact he's rattled Boris Johnson's election plot

Take it from me, Jeremy Corbyn is many things - but he’s no chicken.

As a vegetarian, he doesn’t even eat fowl like me.

But turkey Boris Johnson keeps pecking away at him for refusing one on the rules of his hen house.

Ruffled Johnson, an arrogant bird, seems to think it’s the Leader of the Opposition’s job to do exactly what he squawks.

And that seems a bit featherbrained even for me - the clue’s in the name, featherhead: “Opposition.”

Corbyn refusing to cross the road just because Johnson says so doesn’t mean he’s afraid of getting run over by the Tories’ election battle bus.

It means he’s suspicious of Johnson’s motives.

Corbyn’s clocked Johnson’s plotting to exploit an early election campaign to ram through a hard Brexit while MPs are flapping around on the campaign trail.

Johnson insists he doesn’t plan to do this. But a couple of days ago he was saying he didn’t want to have an election at all, and now look at him.

In any case, Johnson calling anyone chicken is a bit rich.

While he was running in the Tory leadership election, I followed him up and down the country every day trying to ask him questions - and every time I got near him he flew away.

And now his ‘coop’ has failed, there’s only one chicken in Westminster and that’s birdbrain Boris.

His cage has been rattled and he’s terrified he’ll be remembered as Britain’s worst ever Prime Minister.
