Jeremy Corbyn is in Swansea today

Jeremy Corbyn will be in Swansea today visiting a lunch club for children.

The Labour leader will be talking about his parties plans for education if they get into power.

Speaking ahead of the event he said: "Working class children are still being held back while their wealthy peers get ahead. The next Labour government will take radical action to unlock the potential of every child, not just a lucky few.

"The Tories are failing a whole generation of children.

"The Welsh Labour Government has been on the front line of defending the people of Wales against the worst Tory austerity cuts and helping disadvantaged children to get a flying start in life.

"A UK Labour Government will give the Welsh Government the funds it needs to make good on our moral responsibility to end the scandal of child poverty, hunger and homelessness.”

Education is a devolved issue and any new Labour Prime Minister would not be able to directly effect policy on schools in Wales.

Mr Corbyn is expected to say that his party will be taking a lead from the Welsh Government's education policy.

Speaking at the event he will say: "Learning from the work of the Welsh Labour government, the next UK Labour government will take radical action to unlock the potential of every child."

The current education minister in Wales is the Liberal Democrat AM Kirsty Williams.
