Jeremy Corbyn was filmed in an awkward encounter when a woman tried to interrupt his speech.
As the Labour leader addressed a large crowd at the Durham Miners’ Gala, the woman stepped up to the podium and tried to grab his arm.
Mr Corbyn had just invited Theresa May to step down and call an election when she began shouting and resisted attempts from staff to get off the stage.
She can be heard calling out, “Are you on my side?”, and he replied, “Yes I am, but can I just finish the speech first please?”
After frequent interruptions, he promised to talk to her afterwards.
He then told the audience, “I do talk to everybody”, to cheers and applause.
During the speech, he said he would take US President Donald Trump to task on the environment if he was at the G20 summit instead of Ms May, and would challenge him on the “economic orthodoxy” of austerity.
Around 200,000 people were at the event at the Old Racecourse.
He declared Labour was a “Government in waiting” and would end austerity and the public sector pay cap.
Ms May is at the G20 summit in Hamburg and has met with Mr Trump.
She said she encouraged Mr Trump to bring the US back into the United Nations' Paris climate change agreement. Mr Trump said a trade deal with the UK would be drawn up “very, very quickly”.
