Jeremy Corbyn hits back at Tory 'fraud on UK’ in fresh warning of 'NHS for sale'

Jeremy Corbyn has hit back furiously at the Tories after they denied the NHS was “for sale” in US trade talks after Brexit .

Labour ’s leader today slammed Boris Johnson for “doubling down” after he on six meetings between the US and UK.

The documents show US officials demanded “total market access” as the default starting point - and UK officials admitted drug pricing would be a “key consideration”.

They also show the US boasted there’d be “all to play for” in a no-deal Brexit and demanded there was no mention of climate change in a deal.

But Tory chiefs accused the Labour leader of lying because

Boris Johnson, speaking yesterday, said: “We are absolutely resolved that there will be no sale of the NHS, no privatisation. This NHS is not on the table in any way.”

And Trade Secretary Liz Truss accused Labour of indulging in a “conspiracy theory”.

But today Mr Corbyn said: “The Conservatives have been caught trying to cover things up.

“Yesterday, Labour exposed the secret plot to sell out our NHS as part of a toxic deal with Donald Trump .”

He said the talks were “far-reaching” and spoke of “breaking open our NHS” to US corporations and driving up the cost of drugs.

He added: “Those revelations absolutely shredded all of BJ’s denials that the NHS was on the table in talks with Donald Trump and his administration.

“I called for the PM to come clean. And what did he do? He doubled down.

“But the documents reveal what’s in store under a Johnson government.

“He won’t get Brexit done. That claim is actually a fraud on the people of this country.

“Instead what he will do is plunge us into more years of painful negotiations and broken promises whilst we are spectators, watching our most precious institution, our NHS, get carved up and sold off before our very eyes.

“This election is now a fight for the survival of our NHS as a public service.”
