Jeremy Corbyn and Alex Salmond both sell out Edinburgh Festival Fringe shows

Jeremy Corbyn and Alex Salmond have both sold out their Edinburgh Festival Fringe shows.

The politicians will be appearing separately and tickets to see the two on stage had been in hot demand.

Mr Corbyn will be appearing at the festival in August and is set to speak to comedian and broadcaster Susan Morrison.

The on-stage conversation will look at "makes him tick, how he deals with adversity and why our country and its politics needs to be transformed,” STV reported.

Tickets for the Labour leader’s event sold out within hours and the event will be another high-profile appearances for Mr Corbyn since he exceeded expectations at the recent general election.

The 68-year-old spoke in front of thousands at the Glastonbury Festival this summer with some suggestions he drew one of the biggest crowds of the event.

Like Mr Corbyn, Mr Salmond, the former SNP leader, has also seen a rise in his popularity. He has sold out 15 consecutive nights for his one-man show titled Alex Salmond Unleashed

The event has been described as “an afternoon of chat, stories, a little bit of music and lots of fun”.

With 5,250 tickets now sold, Mr Salmond is now apparently looking into expanding the 350-capacity venue.

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the world's largest arts festival. It will run from 4 August until 28 August.
