Jeremy Clement opens up on Rangers transfer as retiring midfielder explains move to 'legendary club'

Former Rangers midfielder Jeremy Clement has looked back over his career after retiring from top flight football and admits he fondly recalls a six month spell at Ibrox.

Calling it quits at the age of 35, the Frenchman intends to embark on a coaching career playing following a spell with fifth tier outfit Bourgoin-Jallieu.

Clement was brought to Rangers by countryman Paul Le Guen from Lyon for £1.3 million during his ill-fated, short spell at the club in 2006.

He lasted just half a season before he returned to France to be reunited with Le Guen at Paris Saint-Germain but he stressed he had no regrets signing for Rangers.

Clement said: "I wanted to progress as a player so I decided to leave Lyon. I had opportunities to sign for clubs in France, but I wanted to sign for a manager who knew what I could do, like Paul Le Guen, so I chose Rangers.

"Rangers was a great adventure for me. It was my first experience abroad and a big change for me.

"The country was beautiful, I met my future wife and Rangers are a legendary club, so I regard it as a great time for me.

"I returned to France and went on to play for PSG, St Etienne and Nancy. I've had a great career.

"Now I will take my coaching badges at Bourgoin-Jallieu and hope to become a manager one day when football returns to normal."
