Jeremy Clarkson wreaks Edinburgh havoc in Amazon Prime's The Grand Tour 'Lochdown' special

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May are heading to Scotland in a new feature-length special of The Grand Tour.

The 'Lochdown' episode of the motoring show will see the trio journey around Scotland in luxury American cars from the 1970s at the height of the Covid pandemic.

In the trailer, the three men can be seen driving around Edinburgh, struggling to fit their cars into the city's narrow and winding roads, as reported by The Mirror.

One clip in particular sees Clarkson struggling to climb out of the window of his Lincoln Continental on the historic Royal Mile.

Like previous episodes of the hit Amazon series, the special will feature various challenges for Clarkson and co. to undertake - including building a homemade bridge across the Hebridean sea.

Due to the timing of the filming at the height of lockdown, the three were unable to stay in hotels during their journey so are required to tether caravans to the back of their luxury American motors.

“The first of my news announcements this week,” Clarkson posted on Twitter, alongside a 30-second snippet of the trailer that he shared with his 7.3 million Twitter followers.

And in the same post to his 3.6 million Instagram followers, the seasoned 61-year-old presenter whipped up a social media storm as fans clambered to get a sneaky peak at what’s in store in the new show.

The video, which has the accompanying teaser “True friends….Always have your back!”, was viewed over 320,000 times on Twitter and close to 600,000 time on Instagram within two hours of Jeremy revealing his exciting news.

Unsurprisingly fans of the show have been excited about the return of the petrol-fuelled programme.

“Can’t wait for this,” enthused one happy fan.

“These three give me the feeling that everything will be alright,” offered another.

And a third gushed: “Omg this is the best news!!!”

Previously known for hosting BBC's Top Gear, the trio signed a deal with Amazon after Clarkson's contract with the BBC was terminated in the wake of allegations of a verbal and physical attack in 2015.
