Jeremy Clarkson throws Top Gear shade on Matt LeBlanc on Who Wants to Be A Millionaire?

Former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson made a joke at the expense of ex Top Gear presenter Matt LeBlanc on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.

Clarkson was presenting the repeated episode in the long-running ITV quiz show when this £4,000 question came up: “In the sitcom ‘Friends’ which character is a palaeontologist? with the possible answers Monica, Joey, Rachel or Ross.

The contestant, Chris from Sheffield, was quick to answer, correctly, saying he had watched a lot of Friends and his final answer was Ross.

This prompted a cheeky dig from Clarkson.

He said: “Monica was a chef, Rachel works in fashion, Joey was an actor.

“I don’t know whatever happened to the character who played Joey… disappeared without a trace… poor man.”

He paused and looked quizzical for comedy effect, to chortling from the studio audience.

For those in the know, this was a reference to Matt LeBlanc’s stint on BBC motoring show Top Gear, the US actor took on a presenting role after Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May left the series in 2015 after a number of controversies. They now host the Amazon Prime motoring show, The Grand Tour.

LeBlanc starred in Top Gear show from 2016 until he quit in 2019, saying the time and travel associated with the show took him away too much from friends and family in the States.
