But upon reaching the fifth question, the wheels started to come off.

Jeremy asked Tom: "Which famous battle is depicted on the Bayeux Tapestry.

Unsure of the answer, Tom used his first lifeline and asked the host.

Luckily, Jeremy knew the answer straight away and secured Tom the £1000.

But by question seven, Tom needed to use his sidelines once more after being asked a question about Andy Warhol.

Unable to make his mind up between two options, Tom used both his 50/50 and phone a friend to get to the correct answer and win £8000.

Following the difficult round, Tom set his safety net at £16,000 but again needed to use his second phone a friend for the eigth question.

Out of lifelines and on the brink of scoring £32,000, Tom was forced to withdraw from the show, giving a random answer to a Nordic TV question.

Jeremy said: "I won't take up any more of your time. That's wrong...

"No matter, you came, you saw, you made a mess of it.

"Erm nevertheless you are leaving with £16,000."
