Jeremy Clarkson makes sly dig at Top Gear and Matt LeBlanc on Millionaire

Jeremy Clarkson made a barbed comment towards his ex-employers Top Gear and one of the men who replaced him, Matt LeBlanc, on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? tonight.

The 59-year-old presenter hosted BBC's Top Gear from 1988 until 1998 and then again for another 13 years from 2002.

But Jeremy was fired in March 2015 after allegedly punching a producer, which led to his co-stars James May and Richard Hammond quitting the show too.

Following the trio's departure, Chris Evans took over as one of the new hosts in 2016 alongside actor Matt LeBlanc.

He then continued hosting the show after Evans threw in the towel after just one series.

LeBlanc's final stint as host aired earlier this year, and the 27th series of Top Gear with the new line-up will air next month.

While hosting tonight's Millionaire, contestant Chris Dent had been asked which Friends character had been a palentologist.

Chris, who ended up taking home £16,000, correctly said that it was Ross' profession.

After revealing the answer was correct, Jeremy quipped wryly: "I don't know what happened to the actor who played Joey - disappeared without a trace."

Fans noticed the snarky comment, with one tweeting: "Jeremy Clarkson " I don't know whatever happened to the character who played Joey " in a dig at Matt Le Blanc trying to replace him on Top Gear #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire."

While another remarked: "Clarkson top gear dig #whowantstobeamillionaire #Millionaire."

Following LeBlanc's exit from Top Gear, it was announced that Paddy McGuinness and Andrew Flintoff would be hosting the 27th series.
