Jeremy Clarkson fuming with Who Wants to Be a Millionaire player for 'wasting lifeline'

Jeremy Clarkson slammed a contestant on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire tonight as she "wasted" a lifeline.

Medical student Mainga Bhima, from Rossendale, was the third into the chair on tonight's show and said she was "excited" rather than nervous.

Mainga moved quickly though the first questions, before spending sometime on the £1,000 question about Christmas.

She apologised for spending so much time on the one question but said "I've seen too much horror in here this evening" after the two previous contestants went home with £1,000.

But when she got to a question about what country the KGB was the secret police of Mainga became unsure of herself.

She narrowed the answer down to either the Soviet Union or East Germany.

Mainga seemingly managed to choose the Soviet Union, but decided to "check" by using a lifeline and asking Jeremy.

Jeremy said: "You're asking me and I think you've wasted a lifeline, you knew it was the Soviet Union and I'm also 100% sure it is."

And viewers at home also thought she'd made a silly mistake by using a vital lifeline when she already knew the answer.

Ryan Glendenning said: "She did waste a lifeline that was an easy one."

@alan_mackie said: "Even Jeremy's having a go for wasting a lifeline."

@misslionheart said: "Yet another waste of a lifeline on an easy question."

Despite her blunder Mainga went onto do well in later questions setting her safety net at £64,000.

She eventually went home with the £64,000 after failing to get a sports question correct.
