Jeremy Clarkson defends Clarkson's Farm amid backlash over new series

Jeremy Clarkson has hit back at criticism over the latest season of Clarkson’s Farm, issuing a blunt response to fans who claimed the show has strayed too far from its roots.

Series four of the Prime Video hit premiered on May 23 and concluded earlier this month, with much of the focus shifting from the farm to Clarkson’s latest venture, his pub The Farmer’s Dog.

While earlier seasons followed his efforts to run Diddly Squat Farm, this installment centred on the challenges of launching the new business.

Some viewers weren’t convinced by the pivot.

Taking to X, Clarkson shared a playful poll: “Series 4 of Clarkson’s Farm. Who do we like most? Endgame? Or Richard Ham?”

One follower replied: “Talking about the TV show, I enjoyed more when it was more farm related. The pub was as overwhelming to you as for us lol.”

Clarkson hit back simply: “I know what you mean but the pub IS farm related.”

Over on Reddit, fans echoed similar concerns, with one writing: “Season 4 was more like Clarkson’s Pub than Clarkson’s Farm,”

While another added: “The show would be a lot more interesting if they focused more on the farm, and less on the pub and other outside activities.”

However not everyone was disappointed.

Some fans praised the new season on social media, with one viewer posting: “Love Clarkson’s farm, amazing telly #clarksonsfarm.”

“It may sound crazy, but I love the Diddly Squad family. Absolutely love these people.” a second added.

A third echoed: “#Clarksonsfarm love this programme.”

Elsewhere, Big Brother star Henry Southan feared he’d be banned from Clarkson’s pub after posting a less-than-glowing review during a Father's Day visit.

The 26-year-old took his dad to the Farmer’s Dog near Burford in Oxfordshire earlier this month but shared his disappointment with both the food and the parking situation in a TikTok video.

The video sparked speculation among fans that he may be added to Clarkson’s so-called “banned list” of critics unwelcome at the Diddly Squat premises — a remark Southan leaned into himself.

The TikTok user remarked: "not the search being 'Jeremy Clarkson pub banned list'" to which Southan replied: “I fear I'm next” alongside a skull-emoji.

Earlier this month, Clarkson banned a customer from his Oxfordshire establishment after they complained about paying £24 for a pie and vegetables.

The TV star has previously defended the pub’s prices by emphasising his commitment to using only British ingredients and supporting local farmers — even if that means omitting popular products like ketchup, coffee, lemonade or Coca-Cola from the menu.
