Jeremy Clarkson branded 'snob' by furious headteacher over A-Level results brag

Jeremy Clarkson has been accused of “inverted snobbery” by a headteacher for bragging about his lavish lifestyle, despite flunking his A-Levels.

The former Top Gear host, 65, shares a tongue-in-cheek post each year about how successful he has become despite failing his exams.

And as millions of students across the UK received their A-Level results on Thursday, Clarkson could not resist boasting about having a private helicopter pad at his Cotswolds home.

“If your A-level results are disappointing, don't worry,” Clarkson wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. "I got a C and two Us and here I am today, installing lights for a helicopter landing pad in my garden."

Neil Morris, headteacher of Christopher Whitehead Language College in Worcester, claimed Clarkson had an “affluent” upbringing and accused him of “celebrating failure”.

“For these young people, let's not celebrate someone who failed and had the cushion of real affluence to allow him to fail,” Morris told Devon Live.

"If you've got money behind you it is quite a cushion, you are allowed to fail. It sort of suits his persona but it's not about him to be honest.

"It is about these young people and it's about where they're going and what they're doing.”

Morris, who is retiring after 22 years as head of the school, added: "I think there is almost like an inverted snobbery in Britain.”

He claimed society does not “celebrate people who work really hard” and are “at the top of their trade”.

On past A-Level results days, Clarkson boasted about owning a Mercedes-Benz, holidaying in St Tropez, and having a private chef.

He began the tradition in 2014, writing: “If your A-level results aren't joyous take comfort from the fact I got a C and two Us. And I have a Mercedes Benz.”

A year later, Clarkson remarked: “If your A-level results aren't great, be cheered by the fact that I got a C and two Us. And I'm currently sitting in a villa in St Tropez.”

Last year, Clarkson gloated about owning his new Cotswolds pub, The Farmer’s Dog, which opened last August.

The motoring journalist also owns the nearby 1,000-acre Diddly Squat Farm, as well as an accompanying farm shop.

While his Amazon Prime Video series The Grand Tour ended last summer, Clarkson is still making his mark on television.

He is returning to front ITV quiz show, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, as well as a “cheeky” spin-off version of the format.
