Jeremy Clarkson almost jumps out of chair after winning Millionaire contestant £250,000

Jeremy Clarkson jumped out of his chair in excitement tonight after managing to win a Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? contestant £250,000.

The 60-year-old presenter notoriously struggles when used as a lifeline for stumped contestants.

But tonight, when it really mattered, Jeremy knew the answer and helped retired GP Andrew Townsley inch closer to the £1million question.

Andrew admitted that he wasn't sure after being asked which mountain the Twelve Apostles were connected to.

He decided to use his lifeline on Jeremy, who told him that he believed it was Table Mountain.

"I'm 93.7% certain it's Table Mountain," Jeremy said.

Andrew responded: "Then I will take your advice Jeremy and say Table Mountain, final answer."

"This is nerve wracking," Jeremy admitted, appearing to go pale. "Computer, can you reveal the final answer?"

When Table Mountain lit up green, Jeremy gasped in relief as he threw his head back.

"Oh f-" Jeremy began.

Turning to the audience, Jeremy said: "That feels good. I swivelled with joy there."

Andrew managed to reach the £1million question, but didn't know the answer so walked away with £50,000.

*Who Wants To Be A Millionaire returns tomorrow at 9pm on ITV
