Jeremie Frimpong transfer decision 'made' as Celtic braced for major windfall if Leverkusen star gets his wish

Jeremie Frimpong is reportedly 'keen' to join Manchester United over the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

The former Celtic defender is in the crosshairs of some of Europe's heavyweights amid a stellar season for Bayer Leverkusen. Having nailed down the starting spot as the Bundesliga club's right wing-back under Xabi Alonso, he has eight goals and nine assists in all competitions and looks set for a mega move come the summer.

According to widespread reports in Europe, Celtic will take home 30 per cent of the profit on the £11.5million deal that took him to Germany and with Leverkusen said to be holding out for something between £40m-50m, that is set to mean a major payday for Ange Postecoglou's team. It doesn't seem to be a question of if Frimpong leaves at this stage, but when and where to, with United, Barcelona and Bayern all lining up bids to pry him away.

But now it's claimed he's made his decision. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano says he is "keen" to join the Old Trafford side over the other two currently in the running, although talks aren't "advanced" yet with his agent still holding meetings. Frimpong came through the ranks across Manchester at rivals City but didn't manage an appearance for the first-team before Celtic pinched him away for £350,000 in 2018.

And having already banked a fee in the region of £11.5m for him, it seems their profit margin on the young Dutchman is set to skyrocket even further.
