Jeremie Frimpong injury latest as Celtic boss Neil Lennon makes Greg Taylor declaration

Neil Lennon has revealed Jeremie Frimpong will step up his injury recovery next week.

The Celtic boss expects the right-back to return to training on Monday having been stretchered off in the win over Kilmarnock.

Frimpong was on the receiving end of a heavy challenge by Kilmarnock's Alan Power during Celtic's 3-1 win on January 22.

He's missed subsequent wins over Ross County, St Johnstone and Hamilton and won't be involved against Motherwell on Wednesday night.

Lennon, however, will welcome Boli Bolingoli back into his squad but warned the Belgian he's now playing second fiddle to Greg Taylor, who has alternated with Jonny Hayes at left-back in the manager's new 3-5-2 formation.

"We’re hoping he (Frimpong) will be back in training on Monday," Lennon said ahead of the trip to Fir Park.

"Boli’s had a bit of time out and he’ll be back in contention for the squad.

"Greg’s played very well and, at the minute, he’s first in line to play. We’ve got competition in all positions."

Lennon revealed in-form strikers Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths are relishing the opportunity to play together.

The blossoming partnership helped fire the Premiership champions seven points clear of Rangers with a 4-1 win over Accies on Sunday.

And Lennon added: "They’re two intelligent players and they’re enjoying playing together.

"Edouard’s on great form at the minute. Griffiths has come back and is scoring goals. He got the 90 minutes under his belt and, psychologically, that’ll be great for him.

"I think it’s worked well and the two of them are enjoying their football together."
