Jeremie Frimpong given Celtic honour as he beats Odsonne Edouard to gong

Celtic youngster Jeremie Frimpong has beaten the likes of Kris Ajer and Odsonne Edouard to be named the club's Young Player of the Year.

The right-back joined from Manchester City last summer and quickly became a firm favourite with fans.

His attacking style on the pitch endeared him to the Celtic Park faithful, as did his wide-eyed post-match interviews.

Now Frimpong has been voted Celtic 's young player of the season by fans.

Ajer, Edouard and Mikey Johnston were also in the running for the award but it was the Dutchman who came out on top.

Frimpong has become famous for his "oh my days" exclamation after the League Cup final win over Rangers.

The youngster was sent off in the match after giving away a penalty, but Alfredo Morelos' spot kick was saved by Fraser Forster.

A breathless and relieved Frimpong was interviewed after the match and described the agonising final minutes of the game.

He said: "I’m like to the guy: ‘oh my days! The minutes are going so slow!’

"I wanted to cry but then when he blew the whistle, oh my God I was buzzing man, I was buzzing.

“Oh my days, best game ever! Best game ever!

“It was really good.”
