‘Jeopardy’ star James Holzhauer praises Emma Boettcher in classy Tweets after stunning loss

By now you probably know that James Holzhauer’s incredible run on “Jeopardy” came to a stunning end Monday, as he finished a close second behind Emma Boettcher.

If I just broke that news to you, well, that’s on you. Because come on. This is the internet and you clicked into this story!

Holzhauer’s run came to end after he got the Final Jeopardy correct, but only risked $1,399. Many people thought that the show might be rigged because of that but our Ted Berg brilliantly explained why it was the smart wager by Holzhauer.

The 34-year-old professional sports gambler finished his run with $2,464,216 in total winnings, which is good for second most to Ken Jennings in regular season play. He also had the highest total in a single episode when he won $131,127.

Following the airing of his loss, Holzhauer took to Twitter to praise Boettcher, who is a  27-year-old librarian from Chicago who once wrote a Master’s thesis on Jeopardy:

That’s some good stuff there.

He also had some more final thoughts:

So long, Jeopardy James. It was a heck of a run.
