A fitting homage has been paid to Alex Trebek.
The producers of “Jeopardy!” have named the game show’s soundstage after its late host.
A bronze plaque that reads “The Alex Trebek Stage” was recently unveiled at Sony Pictures Studios, in Culver City, California.
Trebek’s widow, Jean, son Matt, and daughters Emily and Nicky were on hand during the dedication during a taping of the show, which aired Monday.
The Canadian-born game show icon died in November 2020 at age 80.
Diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer in 2019, Trebek served as the host of popular series from 1984 until his death.
The multiple Emmy Award winner began his career in 1961, hosting shows such as “The Wizard of Odds” and “High Rollers.”
Following his death, a series of guest hosts filled in at “Jeopardy!” The show’s executive producer Mike Richards was named host on Aug. 11 but after filming just a week’s worth of shows, he stepped down after inflammatory remarks he made on his former podcast resurfaced.
Because the game show is shot in advance, Richards will continue to appear as the host of “Jeopardy!” through Sept. 17.
