Jeopardy phenom James Holzhauer is playing in the World Series of Poker

James Holzhauer captivated the world and earned millions with his dominant run on Jeopardy! earlier this year, and the professional sports gambler will now try his luck on the poker tables in Vegas during the ongoing World Series of Poker.

Holzhauer is set to enter two WSOP events this coming week, thanks to an offer from poker legend Mike Sexton. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Holzhauer will donate 50 percent of his winnings to charity should he cash in either event.

Via the Las Vegas Review-Journal:

The Las Vegas resident will participate in two events, starting at 11 a.m. in the $1,500 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em Super Turbo Bounty tournament. At 2 p.m., he’ll compete in the $1,000 buy-in Tag Team No-Limit Hold’em event with Poker Hall of Famer Mike Sexton.

“I decided to enter because Mike Sexton contacted me and offered to sponsor my buy-ins. I don’t have any plans to enter another WSOP event beyond those two. I played online poker semi-professionally in the early 2000s, but I don’t intend to make a career of it now, as I’m sure I wouldn’t be good enough at it to justify forgoing other opportunities.”
