Jeopardy completely burned the Mets with a hilarious ‘flags’ clue

Back in 2017, the New York Mets finished in fourth place in the NL East — some 27 games behind the division-winning Washington Nationals. The following two seasons haven’t fared much better for the Mets, and now, they find themselves as a punchline … on Jeopardy.

Poor Mets.

During Monday’s episode, the $800 clue for the “let’s talk about flags” category had a very LOLmets theme to it.

It read, “A 2017 article written in June — not Aug. or Sept.! — asked, at 31-41, ‘Is it time for the Mets to wave’ this?” And that was when the eventual winner, Jason, came in with this immediate and correct response.

He said:

“What is the white flag?”

That right there was an easy $800.

The Mets ended up losing 92 games that season, so yeah, it probably was a good time to wave the white flag — two years removed from a World Series appearance.

Jason would hold on to win with $18,600 and extend his two-day total to $45,200. He has quite a ways to go to catch James Holzhauer.
