Jensen Huang Said AI Could 'Destroy and Eliminate' Jobs in Radiology, but Mark Cuban Says 'No Chance'

Las,Vegas,-,May,21:,Mark,Cuban,At,The,2017

Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang earlier warned that AI could make radiology the first profession to be "wiped out," while billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban strongly rejected the idea that radiologists will disappear.

Huang Warns AI Will Wipe Out Radiology

In June, during a conversation with Sequoia Capital, Huang identified radiology as one of the professions most vulnerable to AI because of rapid advances in computer vision.

"The first job that AI will destroy and eliminate," Nvidia CEO said.

He added, "I advise nobody goes into this field because this field will be wiped out is radiology."

Huang argued that "computer vision is superhuman" because AI can recognize images, detect abnormalities, "never gets tired," and "never misses a detail."

Cuban Says Radiologists Won’t Be Replaced

On Wednesday, Cuban pushed back on X, writing, "No chance radiologists get replaced."

He argued that AI models become outdated, cost money to operate and still require medical expertise when decisions can mean "the difference between life and death."

"Putting together AI with domain knowledge is complex," Cuban said, adding that doctors will need to learn how to use AI effectively in medical school.

His conclusion was blunt: "AI won’t replace radiologists. But every radiologist will use AI"

Cuban also argued that AI’s bigger opportunity in health care is eliminating administrative work.

He said replacing health care "middlemen" with AI could give doctors more time with patients and "reduce the cost of healthcare dramatically."

AI Shifts Focus Toward Human Skills

Earlier, Huang warned that workers who fail to embrace AI could lose their jobs to those who do, while predicting that AI could dramatically expand the global economy. Elon Musk echoed Huang’s view.

NYU professor Scott Galloway argued that AI is making traditional technical advantages such as coding and foreign-language skills less dependable.

He said parents should instead prioritize storytelling, communication, relationships and resilience skills that help people interpret information, build trust and adapt to rejection.

Oracle Corp. (NYSE:ORCL) cut 21,000 jobs, Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ:META) 8,000, and Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) 4,800, as the companies restructured amid AI adoption, cost pressures and changing business needs.
