Jensen Beach (Florida) Defensive Tackle Manny Rogers deciding between final three on Friday

It’s decision time for Jensen Beach High School senior defensive tackle Manny Rogers.

Rogers, the No. 2 player on the TCPalm Super 11, will announce his college choice exclusively on TCPalm.com at noon Friday.

The 6-foot-6, 317-pounder has narrowed his finalists too, in alphabetical order, Florida, Florida State and Tennessee. 247Sports ranks Rogers as a four-star recruit and the No. 23 defensive tackle in the nation.

“Whatever college he chooses is going to get a kid who has the physical tools to go as far as he’s willing to go,” Jensen Beach coach Tim Caffey said. “He’s a freak of nature with his ability to do things for a guy his size. He’s strong, athletic and hard-working. He’s going to be dedicated to the program.

“He has the ability to overcome the obstacles that he’s had in his life that other kids his age would never think about having to overcome. On the football field, you get knocked down every single play and, I tell my kids all the time, it’s not just getting up, it’s what you do when you get up. Manny understands that more than the average kid his age.”

Rogers has played only one year of high school football but was an immediate starter on the offensive and defensive lines for the Falcons in 2018.

He finished the season with 45 tackles, 21 tackles for loss and eight sacks and earned honorable mention on TCPalm’s all-area team.

Also a standout basketball player, Rogers averaged 10 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game in 2018-19 and received honorable mention on the all-area team. Rogers helped the Falcons basketball team reach the regional playoffs the past two seasons.
