Jens Petter Hauge responds to interest from Manchester United scout

Norwegian forward Jens Petter Hauge admitted he would be interested in a possible transfer after Manchester United scout Tommy Møller Nielsen watched him play over the weekend.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday night reiterated United are not necessarily in the market for 'marquee' names this summer as they look to add squad depth as well as new first-team stars.

United's scout for Scandinavia was spotted in Norway watching a match between Sandefjord and FK Bodø/Glimt on Sunday night, with local reports suggesting Hauge was the focus of his attentions.

“It’s quite clear," Hauge told Eurosport. "When a club like Manchester United comes on the field, it will always be interesting.

“If that’s right [United scout watching him], then it’s very positive. But it’s not something I can go around thinking about, because then my performance will drop.

“I have to focus on delivering. I will of course be very flattered if this is true, but I am now concentrating on performing with Glimt.”

Hauge fulfils United's transfer criteria as an exciting young prospect, but after the match scout Møller Nielsen refused to clarify if his assignment was to watch any player in particular.

“As Manchester United’s senior scout, I have a responsibility to keep up to date with what is happening in Scandinavia. Jens Petter Hauge plays, yes, but so do the rest of the players on the pitch. I check out all the players,” the scout told Dagbladet.
