Jenny Ryan's warning to Chase contestant after £39k mistake

A contestant on The Chase missed out on £39,000 despite being warned by Jenny Ryan to pick the high offer.

Rob, Ellis, Rihana, and James were hoping to win big on The Chase today, but if they wanted to take home the money, they'd have to beat The Vixen.

James was up first, securing a solid £5,000 in his cash builder.

But it fell apart for him in the head to head, with Jenny soon eliminating him from the show.

Rihana and Ellis were more successful, adding £3,000 each to the prize pot.

But the team would have to rely on final contestant Rob if they wanted to add more money.

He did well in the cash-builder, answering seven questions correctly.

After such an impressive first round, it was expected Rob would opt for a higher offer in the head-to-head.

The Vixen offered a huge £39,000 but was shocked when Rob stuck to his £7,000 option.

Jenny said: "No disrespect to Rihana and Ellis, but you're the best player on this team and I think you're better than the £7,000."

As expected, Rob rattled through the second round, bringing the team's total jackpot to £13,000.

But Jenny felt he'd made a big mistake.

She said: "I said you'd regret not going for the high offer."

Unfortunately, the team lost out in the Final Chase, after only scoring 14 points.

Despite a number of pushbacks, Jenny caught up to their score with 12 seconds still on the clock.
