Jenny Lenzini dead: TV reporter tragically killed in motorbike crash aged 26

Florida based news reporter Jenny Lenzini, has been tragically killed after the motorcycle she was riding on crashed into a tree,

WBBH-TV has reported that the 26-year-old had only been working with Waterman Broadcasting since July, with the company operating the channels NBC2 and ABC7 in southwest Florida.

While the driver died at the scene, Jenny was flown to a hospital in Sarasota but later succumbed to her injuries.

WBBH-TV paid tribute to the reporter, saying in a statement: "Jenny covered stories that mattered most to our community in Charlotte County and Lee County.

"She was always diligent in her work and made sure you knew how grateful and thankful she was to be reporting in Southwest Florida."

Jenny started her career in Sioux City, Iowa, where was was a weekend anchor and multi-media journalist at KTIV.

Their news director, Keith Bliven, said that employees at the station were "all in shock" after they heard news of the tragic incident.

Keith said: "It's like a gut punch. She had a great future ahead of her, and did great things, and she was going to do great things."

Jenny had grown up in the Crystal Lake suburb of Chicago and is survived by five other siblings.

WBBH-TV reported: “She idolised Diane Sawyer growing up and loved being around people."

It is the second tragic death of a TV reporter in recent months after 26-year-old Nina Kapur was killed after crashing on a Revel scooter.

The reporter for CBS2 in New York was passenger on the scooter when "the operator swerved for an unknown reason” and the two “fell to the roadway as a result” which led to Nina dying, according to an NYPD detective speaking to The New York Times.
