Jennifer Zamparelli 'surprised' Laura Whitmore returned to work a week after giving birth

RTE star Jennifer Zamparelli has praised Laura Whitmore for returning back to work a week after giving birth to her daughter – but admitted she regretted going back to work too early herself.

But the 2FM star said she was “surprised” to see the Love Island host return to work on Celebrity Juice but can understand why she went back to work so soon.

Laura shared several pictures of herself in the Celebrity Juice studio, including one where she breastfed her daughter while her makeup was done.

However, Jennifer admitted that while she applauds Laura for going back to work so quickly she regretted going back so early after she gave birth to her daughter Florence back in 2015.

The mum-of-two told us: “I was surprised when I saw her but I mean she signed that contract (Celebrity Juice) a long time ago so maybe didn’t have a choice. Maybe she wanted to (go back).

“If she was signed up for those shows, like she signed up for those shows and she had the baby.

“I just know personally that I regretted it with my first not taking that time out. I went back ten weeks after and I kind of regretted just not… because you think you have to still be exactly the same and do exactly the same thing, but you just have this human hanging off your boob.

“And when the second one came around and I just thought, I’m going to take time out for a second. Not that you can’t do it and do it well, I’m sure Laura Whitmore’s doing it well and it is her choice, but just emotionally what you have just been through. It is a total shift in everything.

“I just wanted to take that time for myself on the second one.

“Maybe Laura had to do that show and she didn’t have the choice or maybe she just wanted to get out of the house and get dressed up. Whatever. Good luck to her. She knows. You can’t judge. Everybody is completely different.

“There is no right or wrong in how to do things and nobody knows what is best for her and her little girl,” added the Home Advantage host.

Last week, Laura pleaded with women not to make her feel guilty for “feeling good” after giving birth to her daughter.

She said at the time: “Little tip for speaking to new mums. Everyone has a different experience so please don’t put your opinion or expectation on them.

“I’ve been told I won’t be able to leave the house and should feel s**t. But I actually feel the best I’ve felt ever and the happiest I’ve ever been in my entire life. And maybe feel a bit guilty for feeling good as I’ve been told I shouldn’t.

“‘But I’ve created something incredible. I had a positive natural birth with thankfully no complications and a baby that LOVES the boob (and jaysus those boobs are looking good!) also a supportive partner who loves changing dirty nappies (well at least he does them anyway!).

“I am lucky that’s my truth at the moment – I’m sure there will be tougher days. But you should never compare yourself to anyone else as your journey is specific to you.”

And she urged her 1.4 million followers: “Stop comparing bodies and situations. My body is not here for your comparison so please don’t judge it.

She added: “Support other women, it doesn’t knock you – in fact it empowers you. Just a thought x.”
