Jennifer Zamparelli says she won't buy any clothes and will stay out of Penneys for a year in fast fashion vow

Eco-conscious Jennifer Zamparelli has vowed not to spend another cent on clothes and stay out of Penneys for a year.

The popular RTE presenter, who has become a style icon, donning new glitzy dresses on Dancing With The Stars each week, said she wants to ditch her fast fashion choices for a more sustainable approach.

This comes after the 39-year-old reused one of her old dresses from last year on Sunday night’s show.

Opening up about her decision, Jen said she took to Twitter to publicly make the vow, saying: “I’m posting this for one reason and that is to put positive pressure on myself.

“I will not buy a single stitch of clothing this year.

“I’m gonna reuse, borrow and stay out of Penneys.”

In her usual tongue-in-cheek fashion, she added: “If you see me skulking around Zara you have full permission to slap me. #Sustainability”.

On Sunday, celebrities attending the BAFTAs in London were encouraged to make more sustainable red carpet fashion choices such as re-wearing an outfit, hiring clothes or wearing vintage pre-owned clothing.

Amy Huberman made her debut at the prestigious ceremony in a borrowed grey tulle couture gown by Helen Cody.

Meanwhile, Saoirse Ronan stunned in a black Gucci ballgown, made using discarded satin.

“We wanted to create a gown that didn’t waste any resources or people’s time,” her stylist Elizabeth Saltzman told British Vogue.

Leading the pack in Dublin, Jennifer took it upon herself to lead the sustainability train - recycling a dress she wore on the show last year.

Stepping up the style stakes on Irish TV, Jennifer put a twist on an old mini dress from her Dancing With The Stars debut last year and give it a new lease of life for 2020.

Originally from Solace London, she reached out to her stylist Fiona Fagan and assistant stylist Louise Lawlor to redesign it for the show.

The funnywoman turned out in a one-sleeved silver sparkling mini dress that had previously featured a high neck and two winged sleeves.

“Louise is amazing at design and re-imagining garments,” Jennifer said.

“As it’s a week marking memorable years, she worked some magic on this dress from last season.”
