Jennifer Metcalfe spotted with Hollyoaks husband David Tag after pals grow close on set

Jennifer Metcalfe has been pictured out and about with her Hollyoaks co-star David Tag days after confirming her split from Greg Lake - amid rumours the pair have been growing close on set.

The actress, who plays Mercedes McQueen, went public with her break-up last week, revealing she'd parted ways with Geordie Shore star Greg - dad to her son Daye - several months ago.

Mirror Online can now reveal she's been leaning on her co-star David - who plays the actress' onscreen husband Sylver in the soap - in recent weeks.

A Hollyoaks source told Mirror Online: "Jen and David have been working closely together for over a year now and people on the Hollyoaks set suspect they're more than friends.

"Some of the cast feel sorry for Greg as it seems quite fast since he and Jen split."

Jennifer and David were pictured picking up lunch together this week, with the pair popping out to TGI Friday to grab some food during filming.

The pair were in her Range Rover and David was seen exiting the car at a petrol station in Liverpool.

They play married couple Mercedes and Sylver, who tied the knot onscreen last year, and renewed their vows in June.

Jennifer is currently reeling from the breakdown of her eight-year relationship with Greg.

She confirmed the split last weekend, but told fans the couple had split several month ago.

In a post on Instagram, she wrote: "Greg and I decided to part ways amicably a couple months ago.

"We remain friends and we both will continue to happily co parent Daye and would appreciate privacy during these times.

"Thank you to everyone who has supported us before, during and after this."

A representative for Jennifer declined to comment.
