Jennifer Lopez to create movies and more for Netflix in new multiyear deal

The actor-singer and her production company have agreed to a multiyear deal with Netflix, through which they’ll create numerous forms of content, the streaming service announced.

Netflix’s announcement also shared plans for two upcoming films that will star Lopez, who co-founded Nuyorican Productions with Benny Medina in 2001.

“I am excited to announce my new partnership with Netflix,” Lopez, 51, said in a statement Monday.

“(Nuyorican President) Elaine (Goldsmith-Thomas), Benny and I believe there is no better home for us than a forward leaning content creation company that seeks to defy conventional wisdom and directly market to the millions across the globe who no longer view art and entertainment with the kind of boundaries and limitations of the past,” Lopez continued.

Lopez’s work with Netflix will include movies, TV series and scripted and unscripted programming “with an emphasis on projects that support diverse female actors, writers and filmmakers,” Netflix said.

The Bronx-born Lopez will star for Netflix as an assassin training her daughter to survive in “The Mother,” due out in late 2022, and in a film adaptation of Isabella Maldonado’s book “The Cipher.”

“Throughout every aspect of her career, Jennifer Lopez has been a force in entertainment.” Scott Stuber, the head of global films for Netflix, said in a statement.

“In partnering with her and Nuyorican we know she will continue to bring impactful stories, joy and inspiration to audiences around the world.”

Lopez — whose hit songs include “On The Floor” and “Let’s Get Loud” — is known for movie roles including “Selena” and “The Wedding Planner.”
