Ever since we saw pictures of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez reunited after nearly 17 years apart, people have been recalling her iconic engagement ring.
Back in 2002, Ben wanted to make his proposal very special, so he went to renowned jewellery designer Harry Winston and picked out a 6-carat pink gem. It was an unusual choice for the time, as coloured diamonds weren’t really in fashion then.
The sparkler, with its huge stone and surrounding white diamonds, was reported to have cost Ben an eye-watering £855,000 and, according to experts, is probably worth more than £2 million today. From that moment on, the value of pink diamonds soared and has remained sky-high since.
Zack Stone from London diamond store Steven Stone said: "There are certain types of diamonds which can make good investments. Pink diamonds are much rare and very expensive.
"The world’s major source for pink and purple stones, the Argyle mine in Western Australia, closed down at the end of last year, so prices have increased in recent months due to the increased rarity."

In 2018 for instance, a 19-carat Pink Legacy diamond, renamed the Harry Winston Legacy after the winning bidder, sold at auction for the record-breaking price of $50 million (£39.5 million).
In the past few days, Google searches for ‘Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez engagement ring’ have doubled, as fans on both sides of the Atlantic have been reminiscing about the days of Bennifer , as the couple were nicknamed, and people are now speculating about the singletons a second time around. While not jumping the gun, we’re already wondering what kind of ring Ben might have in mind for proposal number two?

JLo isn’t the only lucky celebrity to own a rare pink diamond. In 2004, Spice Girl Victoria Adams was given a pink diamond engagement ring from her fiancé David. Its original price was £850,000 and is said to be worth nearly £2 million now.
In the same year, pop star Enrique Iglesias presented tennis ace Anna Kournikova with a pink diamond band, priced £3million then, now worth more than £5 million.

Blake Lively has been wearing a beautiful pale pink stone in a rose gold setting since her engagement to Ryan Reynolds in 2012. It’s said to be worth more than £2 million these days.
And Mariah Carey’s sparkler tops the lot. She chose the design of her ring, worth £2 million at the time, with a huge 17-carat pink stone and several large diamonds around it, for her engagement to husband Nick Cannon in 2012.
