Jennifer Lopez calls late Ray Liotta her 'partner in crime' in emotional tribute

Jennifer Lopez has paid an emotional tribute to actor Ray Liotta after the tragic news of his death at the age of 67 on Thursday.

The singer-turned-actress praised the Goodfellas star and labelled him her "partner in crime" in a moving message on social media.

Ray was enjoying a purple patch of work with a number of projects in recent times including The Many Saints of Newark, Marriage Story and No Sudden Move, but died in his sleep.

He had also revealed days earlier that he was excited to work on upcoming film Cocaine Bear, which follows the whacky storyline of a 500lb. bear that ingests cocaine and goes on a rampage, putting an entire town in danger.

J-Lo, 52 - who worked alongside the Hollywood star in police drama series Shades of Blue - was one of the first to pay tribute to him.

Sharing her message with her 210 million Instagram followers, she wrote: "Ray was my partner in crime on Shades of Blue.

"The first thing that comes to mind is he so was kind to my children.

"Ray was the epitome of a tough guy who was all mushy on the inside … I guess that’s what made him such a compelling actor to watch."

And she continued by dubbing him the "original Goodfella".

Alongside a slideshow of pictures which showcased their strong relationship, J-Lo added: "We shared some intense moments on set those three years."

"When I first heard he took the job on Shades of Blue I was thrilled.

"And the first time we walked on set to do our first scene together there was an electric spark and a mutual respect and we both knew this was going to be good."

The pair starred alongside each other on the hit series between 2016 and 2018 and Jennifer went on: "Like all artists he was complicated, sincere, honest and so very emotional.

"Like a raw nerve, he was so accessible and so in touch in his acting and I will always remember our time together fondly.”

She concluded the post: "We lost a great today … RIP RAY.

"We enjoyed doing our scenes together and I felt lucky to have him there to work with and learn from."

Alec Baldwin also posted a special tribute to the actor on Instagram as he shared a video in which he described stories of their time together before saying: "Rest in peace Ray Liotta."
