Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez moving in the 'right direction' again after turmoil

It appears that love is firmly back on the cards for Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez amid rumours of their alleged split.

The pair had previously denied they had called it quits in a rare joint statement and have now publicly shown their continued affection to each other in the Dominican Republic.

The Love Don't Cost A Thing singer, 51, has been in the country filming her latest movie Shotgun Wedding and the 45-year-old athlete flew out to spend some quality time together.

And it appears that A-Rod's "big gestures" haven't gone unnoticed according to a source close to the couple.

The source told E News : "Alex remains committed to working on things with Jennifer.

"It was important to Jennifer that Alex stepped up in a public way and showed his level of commitment to her with a trip to see her while working. Jennifer appreciates big gestures like these."

The source admitted that pair's relationship is "heading in the right direction" and Alex is likely to continue visiting J-Lo in the country while she completes her filming duties over the coming weeks.

It seems the couple will continue their progress after filming too with the source claiming the pair will live together in Florida while "continuing work on their relationship and various joint business projects".

Another source backed up the comments to the publication by revealing that the former baseball star is committed to showing the singer-turned-actress that their relationship is his number one priority.

The separate source added: "They both realised that spending a lot of time apart wasn't helpful.

"He had the opportunity in his schedule where he could go and be with her and that's what they both wanted.

"He was originally supposed to visit every two weeks but he wanted to go sooner and she appreciated that."

The couple have been engaged since 2019 and had planned to marry last year.

However, the coronavirus pandemic scuppered their plans - twice.

Back in January, Alex told Jimmy Fallon that "third time's a charm", while in an interview with Elle magazine J-Lo also admitted they're not in a rush to tie the knot.

She said: "We want to do it right when we can do it. We just have to wait to see where the world lands."
