Jennifer Lawrence’s family farm in Kentucky, which is also a summer camp, burnt down in a “horrible fire” on Friday evening (27 November).
Camp Hi-Ho announced the news on Facebook, writing: “It is with the heaviest of hearts that we confirm the news that we lost our barn last night in a horrible fire.
“We are deeply thankful that no people or animals were hurt, but we are still mourning the loss of years of hard work and memories that occurred in these walls.”
The statement added: “Words cannot describe the pain we are in, but we are so incredibly grateful for the Simpsonville Fire Department and all the other firefighters who responded to our emergency.”
Nearly 30 firefighters and six trucks were called to the blaze, according to WYKL News, which destroyed stalls for horses, an indoor riding area for children and a native wildlife display, among other facilities. There were no fatalities.
Jennifer’s brother Blaine, who is the owner and director of Camp Hi-Ho, has asked parents of campers for donations to get the camp back up and running for summer 2021.
The Simpsonville Fire and Rescue and the Kentucky State Fire Marshall are currently investigating the cause of the blaze.
Oscar-winner Jennifer and her brothers Ben and Blaine grew up on the farm, which used to be managed by their mother Karen.
