Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence is stepping behind the camera.
The Oscar-winner told Entertainment Weekly that she wants to direct a comedy and has already signed on to a project.
“I have wanted to direct as long I’ve wanted to act,” Lawrence told the magazine. “I just don’t talk about it because I’d rather just do it.”
Her potential project is called Project Delirium, an adaptation of an article about “mental warfare in the 60s, like an acid experiment gone terribly wrong”, she said.
“It’s funny, I’ve wanted to direct since I was 16 and always thought I should start making steps towards that,” Lawrence said. “If I had tried to do it earlier, I wouldn’t have been ready. Now I actually feel ready.”
Lawrence alluded to her desire to direct in 2014 backstage at the Golden Globes. At the time she said: “My passion for directing happened at the same time it did for acting on my first movie. So I would love to direct, but I don’t want to suck.”
The 25-year-old is also co-writing a screenplay with comic and actor Amy Schumer, in which the two will play sisters.
