What do you get when you bring together two of the most popular protagonists from 2010’s young adult fiction, now they’re all grown up and respected as “serious” actors? Utter magic, apparently.
It feels as though no one quite made the connection between Robert Pattinson and Jennifer Lawrence’s co-stardom when they were first cast in Die, My Love, a psychological drama about a woman going through postpartum depression, due for release later this year.

Then, as the pair were pictured goofing around together on the Cannes 2025 red carpet, it sank in. These two individuals had the 2010s in a chokehold.
Getting their start in popular franchises seen as somewhat low-brow, R Patz and J Law have gone from Seventeen magazine cover stars to Cannes Film Festival superstars.

It doesn’t hurt that Die, My Love is receiving rave reviews. Jennifer Lawrence is being praised as “better than ever”, with many predicting this role will land the actor Oscar number two (she won her first in 2013, taking home the Best Actress Academy Award for Silver Linings Playbook).
Meanwhile, Robert Pattinson has been lauded for his “pathetic helplessness” — welcome news to any R Patz fans, who will know the actor is at his best when playing someone strange and pitiful.
Plus, they’re really matching each other’s freak. Nearly every video of the pair involves them laughing at each other, mocking themselves or horsing around. Both actors have become well known for their zany nature, which gives their pairing the kind of unavoidable natural charisma we probably should have seen coming.
In one interview, the duo are joking about filming a full day of sex scenes on the very first day of shooting. “It was very easy and there was kind of instant trust,” Jennifer Lawrence says. “I mean when you’re doing the kind of scenes that we have to be doing, you don’t always get to pick your co-stars and you don’t always feel comfortable.”

The pair discuss doing dance lessons together to prepare. “You think you can’t get more embarrassed, and then they’re like, ‘Do it naked!’” Rob laughs.
Plus, their red carpet appearance was particularly aesthetically pleasing, with Lawrence looking breathtaking in a white custom-made Dior gown, and Pattinson looking pleasingly crumpled (it suits him) in a traditional tuxedo. At one point, he stopped to fluff Lawrence’s train, reminding everyone just why the two of them had the entire world captivated back in 2012.
