Jennifer Garner has opened up about the lasting impact pregnancy has had on her body, revealing that she looks like “a woman who’s had three babies, and I always will”.

The Peppermint actress spoke candidly about her postpartum body during an appearance on the Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast, where she explained that she will always have a baby bump after giving birth to children Violet, 15, Seraphina, 12, and Samuel, 9, whom she shares with Ben Affleck.

“There are some incredible women whose bodies just, no matter how many babies they have, they bounce right back to that slim-hipped, no stomach,” she told host Giovanna Fletcher. “It’s incredible. I have so many girlfriends who have that physique and I’m so happy for them.

“I am not one of them. That is not my gig. I am not one of them. I can work really hard and I can be really fit and I can still look like a woman who’s had three babies, and I always will.”

The 48-year-old then addressed a past appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2014, where she had disputed pregnancy rumours while telling viewers that her baby bump is “not going anywhere”.

“I am not pregnant, but I’ve had three kids and there is a bump. From now on, ladies, I will have a bump, and it will be my baby bump,” she said at the time, according to People. “Let’s just all settle in and get used to it. It’s not going anywhere. Its name is Violet, Sam and Sera.”

Reflecting on her decision to discuss her postpartum body on DeGeneres’s show, Garner told Fletcher: “I just thought I might as well address it.”

Garner then addressed the ongoing pregnancy rumours that she faces to this day, telling the podcast host that it’s “still happening” even though she is “48 and single”.

“And it’s still happening!” Garner added while laughing. “So you might as well take that bull by the horns.”

The actress concluded the segment encouraging viewers to “be grateful” to their bodies after pregnancy because “it carried you this far. It carried babies for you. What else do you want? My goodness”.

Garner’s relatable comments come after she previously cleared up rumours that she was pregnant in September, when she responded to a fan comment: “I am 48, have three healthy kids, and am not – and never will be – pregnant.”
