Jennifer Arcuri: Why I've decided to speak my truth about Boris Johnson

Businesswoman Jennifer Arcuri has spoken for the first time about how she fell in love with Boris Johnson during a four year affair.

The businesswoman says they first slept together hours before he sat between his then-wife Marina and Princess Anne at the opening of the 2012 London Paralympics.

She says they met up once a week at the height of the affair, she sent arty topless pictures and admits: “I loved him. I adored him.”

But she describes him as a “cowardly wet noodle” for not standing by her in the row over her presence on foreign trade trips.

Jennifer says her romance with PM Boris – who was Mayor of London at the time – lasted from 2012 to 2016. It was his second term of office and he was married to now ex-wife Marina, mother of their four children.

Here she reveals why she has spoken in an exclusive interview with the Sunday Mirror.

Businesswoman Jennifer Arcuri has spoken exclusively to the Sunday Mirror alleging she had a four-year affair with Boris Johnson (Sunday Mirror)

Today I am here to speak about the things I have learned and realise now that I have both a responsibility and opportunity to speak for women who may have found themselves in a similar position where they felt they had to be silenced by a powerful man.

I have always been supportive and loyal to Boris as a friend. I never went out of my way to expose the relationship we once had.

But that relationship was with the late Boris Johnson, the Boris who once had life in his eyes and a spark in his step.

I chose not to speak as cancel culture is real and the backlash has been brutal.

I choose to tell you this truth about our intimate relationship now, because I realised I will not be defined by this scandal anymore.

I never needed Boris to have a seat at the table. I never asked him for any favours.

I didn’t need to trap him. He chose to pursue me. And I cared for him fiercely.

The man I knew once went on to become Prime Minister and through that process I learned the difference between perception and reality.

There was a time I perceived him to be someone truly honourable to have in my life.

But the reality is, Boris Johnson has always had a tenuous relationship with the truth."It starts in his eyes and ends in his actions… as it appears very few listen to his words anymore.

Quite a stark contrast from the days of when I remembered him standing on a stage in Hyde Park with roaring crowds cheering his name.

Perhaps this is a good time for all of us to re evaluate the power in recognising the difference between perception and reality; when people show you who they are, believe them.
