Jennifer Aniston warned not to do Friends as it 'wouldn't make her a star'

In the trailer of the highly anticipated Friends reunion, Jennifer Aniston is seen admitting that Rachel and Ross were indeed on a break, before revealing that her former producer discouraged her from filming the iconic sitcom.

Friends fans will finally receive the answer they have always wanted.

Following a fight that emerged between characters Ross, played by David Schwimmer, and Rachel in the 1997 episode titled “The One Where Ross and Rachel Take a Break”, Jennifer, who played the spoiled and quirky character for a decade, has finally revealed that the on-screen couple was, in fact, on a break.

The episode itself made it rather clear that the two characters were on a break.

As a matter of fact, Rachel Green was the one to suggest both Ross and her should have “a break from us”.

The storyline saw Ross Geller storm out of the iconic New York apartment before sleeping with another woman.

As the anthropologist appeared to have a completely different understanding of what a break meant, and thought that he could go on and hook up with someone else, Rachel, on the contrary, thought otherwise.

Thus began a fight that lasted for multiple episodes before the couple finally reconciled and ended up together.

The trailer, which displayed an emotional and nostalgic reunion of the famous sextet, a snippet of an interview reveals the cast being asked whether Ross and Rachel were on a break.

Evidently, Jennifer disagreed with her character as she shouted without hesitation “yes”.

Funnily enough, all cast members echoed her positive reply with the expectation of Matt Leblanc, who played the goofy character of Joey Tribbiani, as he was not entirely sure.

Jennifer is also seen making a shocking revelation as in the trailer she is shown explaining how she was strongly discouraged from working on Friends.

She said: “I remember I went to the producer of the show I was on, and he said, ‘that show’s not gonna make you a star’”.

It is safe to say that the producer was incredibly wrong.

Friends: The Reunion is set to stream on HBO Max on May 29
