Jennifer Aniston opens up to InStyle about not using social media and turning 50

Friends star Jennifer Aniston has opened up about her decision to not use social media.

Speaking to InStyle, Aniston told the magazine she thinks social media apps could hurt young people who are just discovering their identities.

She said, “They’re doing it through someone else’s lens, which has been filtered and changed…and then it’s ‘like me, don’t like me, did I get liked?’ There’s all this comparing and despairing.”

Aniston turned 50 earlier this year and reportedly imposed a social media ban on her party, though it was broken by a few of her friends, including Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Hudson.

In the Instyle interview Aniston also talked about her famous hair, in the days before her Rachel Green haircut became so popular. "When I was younger, I was in hell," she said, referring to her untamable curly hair. "I tried every product known to man."

She confided to InStyle that she now plans to keep her monthly colorist appointments until the bitter end. “I’m not gonna lie — I don’t want gray hair,” she said.

Aniston went on to discuss her wellness habits. The actress loves spending time in an infrared sauna and said she swears by celery juice and takes multiple supplements. She also told InStyle about her new skincare hack, a $195, 24-karat-gold sculpting bar that her friend and makeup artist Jillian Dempsey recommended. “It feels so damn good to put oil on your face and just roll,” she explained.

The actress recently starred in the Netflix original movie Murder Mystery alongside long-time friend and frequent co-star Adam Sandler. She’s also set to star in The Fixer, which is currently in pre-production. The film is about a former Miss USA contestant who becomes a successful sports manager.

Next up she'll appear in The Morning Show, which is set to air in the fall of 2019. The show is about 'the high-stakes world of morning news and the lives of the people who help America wake up in the morning.' The Morning Show also stars Reese Witherspoon and Steve Carell.
