Jennifer Aniston knew all along why Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were doomed? Apparently, yes

When Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt in September 2016, the news sent shockwaves through Hollywood. The couple, who had been together for 12 years and married for two, seemed to have the perfect fairytale romance. But according to sources close to Jennifer Aniston, Pitt’s first wife was not surprised at all. In fact, she reportedly saw it coming from miles away.

The timing of Pitt and Jolie’s romance had always been controversial. The two met on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2005, while Pitt was still married to Aniston. Their marriage lasted five years before falling apart after he reportedly became involved with Jolie. The media called it one of the most dramatic love triangles in Hollywood history, with fans choosing sides between “Team Jen” and “Team Angelina.”

When news broke of the Brangelina split, sources revealed that Aniston felt vindicated by the turn of events. “Yeah, that’s karma for you!” she reportedly told a friend, according to Us Weekly. The insider added that Aniston “always got the sense that something would happen with them eventually.” She believed that while Pitt truly loved Jolie, the Maleficent star was simply too complex for him in the long run.

Why Jennifer Aniston predicted the end of Brangelina

Aniston’s prediction wasn’t just based on wishful thinking. According to TMZ, she had genuine concerns about the compatibility between her ex-husband and Jolie. Having been married to Pitt for five years, Aniston knew his personality well. She reportedly felt that “Angelina was too complex for him” and that “he’s a pretty simple guy.”

The contrast between the two women couldn’t have been starker. While Aniston was known for her down-to-earth personality and focus on acting, Jolie was an Oscar-winning actress, film director, and internationally renowned humanitarian. She worked as a UN Special Envoy, fighting for refugees and human rights causes around the world. This difference in lifestyle and priorities may have contributed to the eventual breakdown of the relationship.

Sources close to Aniston revealed that she “admittedly feels sort of satisfied about Brad and Angelina’s split.” However, they were quick to point out that she never wished ill will on the couple. “Jen does wish Brad luck and the best,” an insider told Us Weekly. “She feels like she’s happy, and she wants him to be happy too.” By 2016, Aniston had moved on with her own life, marrying actor Justin Theroux in 2015. Despite their later divorce, she was in a much happier place than during her difficult split from Pitt.

The reasons behind Pitt and Jolie’s divorce were complex and controversial. Initial reports suggested problems with Pitt’s parenting style and substance use issues. Jolie cited “irreconcilable differences” in her filing and requested sole physical custody of their six children. There were also unsubstantiated rumors about an affair between Pitt and his Allied co-star Marion Cotillard, though she quickly denied these allegations on social media. The legal battles between Pitt and Jolie would continue for eight years before their divorce was finally settled in December 2024.
